Getting appliances ready
- Fridge: switch it off the night before, let the ice melt and wipe it dry.
- Washing machine: drain the water from the pipes. Follow the manufacturer’s transport instructions and confirm whether transit bolts or other restraints are required.
- AC: ask whether a suitable technician can be arranged for removal and reinstallation, and confirm the charges separately.
- TV and computer: keep the original boxes if you have them. If not, we pack them in padded boxes.

- Keep jewellery, cash, medicines and important papers with you.
- Finish or give away open food and liquids.

Build a practical room-wise inventory
List large furniture separately from packed boxes. Include balcony furniture, loft contents, storage cupboards and items in a basement or separate storeroom. Mark anything you will sell, leave behind or transport yourself so it is not counted in the moving scope.

Prepare an essentials bag with medicines, chargers, a change of clothes and items needed for the first night. Identify boxes that should be unloaded first. Avoid putting essential keys or documents inside a carton that may be difficult to find at delivery.
Arrange access at both homes
